creating a public moment around awareness of the impact of plastic on ocean life and driving awareness and sign ups for the run for the oceans, thanks to accompanying educational boards and interactions.

 

We wanted to educate the public on how serious the problem of plastic waste is on the ocean ecosystem, so we visualized it with this stunt (as part of a broader global campaign called Run For the Oceans). We took scrap styrofoam, harvested from the remains of unsustainable events and art installations. We gave the foam (which we usually would avoid as an unsustainable material) a second life, and a chance to help us tell this important message, using special techniques to paint and sculpt it in this shape, turning it into public art with a message.
